THIS SEASON: Riley Hayward, a 2017 senior, is a returning Pac-12 finalist in the 100y breaststroke who is also strong in the 200 and has her eyes on qualifying for her first NCAA Championships.
2016: Hayward turned in a career-best effort to play her part in USC's Pac-12 title as a 2016 junior, reaching her first conference final and taking sixth in the 100y breast in a PR 1:01.03 after a 1:01.44 prelim swim. She was also 15th in the 200y breast (2:14.68) and was 40th in the 200y IM (2:06.17). Her 1:01.03 in the 100y breast and her 2:13.10 in the 200y breast at the Texas Invitational were both NCAA 'B' cuts and both among USC's top 5 fastest in the events last year ... Hayward competed at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, finishing 81st in the 200m breast (2:36.02).
2015: Hayward, as a 2015 sophomore, raced in three events as a 2015 sophomore, finishing 20th in the 100y breast (1:03.90), 29th in the 200y breast (2:19.86) and tied for 33rd in the 200y IM (2:05.50).
2014: Hayward competed in three events at the 2014 Pac-12 Championships as a freshman, taking 12th in the 100y breast (1:01.99), 14th in the 200y breast (2:15.53) and 21st in the 200y IM (2:03.06).
HIGH SCHOOL: Hayward, from New Trier High in Winnetka, Ill. competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100m breast. She also made multiple state finalist appearances in the 100y breast and 200y IM. She was second in the 100y breast behind current teammate Evan Swenson in 2012.

PERSONAL: She is majoring in communication.
