Biography

2022: Saw action with the Trojans during the fall, but did not compete during the spring of 2022. 

2021: Ciesla provided depth for the Trojans in the sprint free events and relays as a 2021 senior … At the 2021 NCAA Championships, Ciesla swam in four relays for the Trojans (200y medley, 400y medley, 200y free, 400y free) … A few weeks prior, Ciesla swam in two individual events for the Trojans at the Pac-12 Championships where she scored twice, finishing 14th in the 50y free (22.81) and 15th in the 100y free (49.43). She also contributed to the Trojans third place 200y free relay and 400y free relay … Against UCLA (Feb. 12), Ciesla was second in the 100y free (49.30) and third in the 50y free (22.78) … Second team CSCAA All-American honors (400 medley relay, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay) 

2020: Ciesla’s 2020 junior season included CSCAA All-American honors (50y free, 100y free, 400y free relay, 400y medley relay) and an NCAA bid cut painstakingly short due to coronavirus. Ciesla was a top-20 seed in both the 50y free (21.86) and 100y free (48.02) heading into the event … At the 2020 Pac-12’s, Ciesla helped USC win the 400y free relay, finish second in the 400y medley relay and third in both the 200y free and medley relays. Individually she was second in the 50y free (21.86) and 100y free (48.02) and 26th in the 200y free (1:49.45) … Ciesla opened the season with a win in the 100y free (50.31) and a second-place finish in the 50y free (23.27) at the Trojan Swim Invite

2019: Ciesla repeated as an NCAA Championships relay scorer and Pac-12 finalist as a 2019 sophomore. At the NCAAs, she was 19th in the 50y free (22.15, missing 16th by 0.06) and was 41st in the 100y free (49.54). She also led off USC’s consolation final win in the 200y free relay … She was a two-time finalist at the Pac-12s, finishing fourth in the 50y free (22.01) and tying for fifth in the 100y free (48.25) while anchoring USC’s second-place 400y medley relay and third-place 200y medley and 400y free relays … Ciesla won both the 50y (22.15) and 100y free (48.50) against UCLA … She competed at the 2019 Polish Nationals, finishing third in the 50m free (25.60).
 
2018: Ciesla earned All-American honors as a 2018 freshman as part of USC’s seventh-place 200y medley relay. She swam individually in the 50y free, finishing 18th (22.26), 0.05 out of a spot in the B final. She also swam on the Trojans’ 200y and 400y free relays as well as USC’s 400y medley relay … At the 2018 Pac-12 championships, Ciesla was a finalist in the 50y free, finishing fifth (PR 22.04) while taking 17th in prelims of the 100y free (49.62). She also swam on USC’s third-place 200y medley and 200y and 400y free relays … Ciesla won the 50y free at the SMU Classic (22.63) as well as at the Texas Invitational (22.23), where she also contributed to USC’s 200y and 400y medley relay wins ... Ciesla defeated Cal’s Abbey Weitzeil and Stanford’s Simone Manuel -- both American Olympians -- in back-to-back meets in January.


HIGH SCHOOL: Ciesla prepped at Pine Crest High in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she led her school to the 2016-17 Florida state championship and won the 100y free (49.67) and took second in the 50y free (22.61). A member for the USA Swimming Women’s National Junior Team in 2016-17, she represented the U.S. at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships and won a silver medal in the 50m free. The two-time Sun Sentinel Swimmer of the Year was 20th in the 50m free at the 2017 U.S. Summer Nationals and was 19th in the 50m free (25.59) at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials while also racing in the 100m free. She won the 50m free (25.07) at the 2015 Speedo Junior Nationals. She won the 50y (22.60) and 100y free (49.30) at the 2014-15 Florida state championships.

PERSONAL: She is working towards an M.S. in Social Entrepreneurship … Both of Ciesla’s parents were born in Poland (Ciesla has dual citizenship and still has family there) and were both runners.
