THIS SEASON: Hannah Weiss, a 2018 senior, returns as one of the top backstrokers in the Pac-12 and the nation and should again challenge for conference titles and individual All-American honors. A four-time career Pac-12 finalist and two-time All-American, she is also valuable on the medley relays.

2017: Weiss raced in two events at the 2017 NCAA Championships as a junior, taking 50th in the 200y back (1:58.82) and 52nd in the 100y back (54.40) … At the 2017 Pac-12s, Weiss raced in the 100y and 200y back, finishing 15th (53.55) and 17th (1:55.87), respectively. She was also 30th in the 100y fly (55.95) … She was a two-time finalist in the 100y and 200y back at the Texas Invitational … Weiss was a CSCAA Scholar All-American first teamer and a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention pick for the second year in a row.
 
2016: For the second year in a row, Weiss earned All-American honors as part of USC's 400y medley relay at the NCAA Championships and was a two-time conference finalist. At the NCAAs, Weiss swam the backstroke leg on USC's fifth-place 400y medley relay that broke the school record (3:29.69). She also helped USC scored points on the ninth-place 200y medley relay. Individually, she was 28th in the 100y back (52.93), 33rd in the 200y back (1:55.33) and 48th in the 100y fly (53.84) ... At the 2016 Pac-12 Championships, Weiss repeated as a two-time finalist, finishing seventh in the 100y back (52.79) and eighth in the 200y back (1:54.86). She also won the 100y fly B final (52.91), moving up eight spots from her freshman year ... At the 2015 Texas Invitational, she won the 100y back (52.46) and helped USC win the 400y medley relay ... Weiss had seven dual meet wins on the season, five in the 100y back and two in the 200y back ... At the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, Weiss was 30th in the 100m back (1:01.94), 38th in the 200m back (2:14.72) and tied for 83rd in the 100m fly (1:01.30) ... Weiss earned CSCAA Scholar All-America first team and Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention honors.
 
2015: Weiss had a strong 2015 freshman season, earning All-American honors as part of USC's seventh-place 400y medley relay at the NCAA Championships. She also won the 'B' final of the 100y back in 51.60 to set a USC record in the event (after going a PR 51.87 in prelims), scored in the 200y back, finishing 15th (1:53.96, 1:53.16 in prelims for a PR) and led off USC's 200y medley relay that finished 10th ... She was a two-time finalist at the 2015 Pac-12 Championships, finishing fourth in the 100y back (52.39) and eighth in the 200y back (1:56.18). She was also 17th in the 100y fly (53.38) ... Weiss competed at the 2015 U.S. Summer Nationals, where she was 26th in the 100m back (1:02.16), 44th in the 200m back (2:16.46) and 60th in the 100m fly (1:01.48).
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Weiss, who graduated from Mercer Island (Wash.) High but did not compete there, was a member of the 2013 and 2014 U.S. Junior National teams and finished her high school career ranked among the top 25 internationally in the 50 (scm, lcm) and 100 back (scm) ... Weiss competed at the 2014 U.S. Nationals, where she missed an `A' final in the 100m fly by 0.07, ultimately taking fourth in the `B' final in 59.91. She was also sixth in the `C' final of the 50m fly (27.43), fourth in the `C' final of the 50m back (29.61) and 48th in the 200m back (2:17.82) ... At the 2014 Junior Pan Pacs, Weiss was eighth in the 100m back (1:03.57) ... She competed for the U.S. at the 2013 U.S. 18 & Under World Cup in Tokyo and Beijing and took seventh in the 50m back and sixth in the 100m back (scm) ... She won a 2012 U.S. Junior national title in the 100m back (1:02.22) and was third at the 2013 event in 1:01.74 ... She shares NAG records in the 200m and 400m medley relays set in 2014... She competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100m back (53rd).

PERSONAL: Weiss was born on Oct. 3, 1995 ... She is a human biology major. Her father, Karl, swam at Wisconsin and was a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier. She has a twin brother, Andrew, who is in the U.S. Marine Corps, and an older brother, Kurt. Both were club and prep swimmers.
